With the acquisition of a film that was filmed in the West African nation, Ghana has reclaimed its place in the global film industry.

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian musician, plays the main role in the film "Water and Garri."

In the film, Savage plays the aspirational fashion designer Aisha, who follows a family bereavement to return to her homeland after ten years abroad in the United States.

Things changed at home as she reunited with relatives, old acquaintances, and her former love, and tensions rose and violence increased.

The film features compelling cinematography and storytelling, and it was shot in Cape Coast, Ghana.

Afolarin (Far From Home), Bunting (Dynamite), and Osunde (New Money) are among the other actors starring in the drama.

Ayanna Lonian, director of content acquisition at Prime Video, made the following statement regarding the acquisition of the exclusive rights to the film: "Audiences around the world are looking for well-made, contemporary African stories, and Water and Garri delivers that with a fresh perspective."

Together with the rest of the highly skilled cast and crew, Meji Alabi, the film's director, and Tiwa Savage, the star, have both truly made a fantastic debut, Ayanna continued.

The acquisition has also thrilled the Nigerian singer. "From conceiving and creating my movie to its worldwide release on Prime Video, it's a dream come true," stated Tiwa Savage.

"I am thrilled to share this sensitive aspect of myself that I have never exposed with my followers and newer audiences. I am really excited to share the narrative with the world because Meji Alabi brought it to life so beautifully," she continued.
