Nigeria's Super Eagles have left the nation to play in the upcoming African Cup Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
The squad left for Abidjan on Wednesday at around ten in the morning from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in advance of the competition, which was scheduled to start on Saturday.
Matching white caftans with elaborate green embroidery around the necklines are worn by national team players and officials. Green caps are a stylish nod to the national colors that go well with the design.
The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, sponsored a send-forth dinner on Tuesday night, which was shortly followed by the Eagles' departure from Nigeria.
The group had just returned from a single training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they had defeated a local team, Al Gharaib, 12-0, and then lost 2-0 to Guinea in the last game.
Group A includes Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Ivory Coast in addition to the Eagles.
In their first game on January 14, Nigeria will play Equatorial Guinea. Four days later, they will play Ivory Coast. The Guinea-Bissau match will conclude the group stage.
