Augustine Kwame Adu (Augustine Kwame Adu Amankwah) was a Ghanaian academic, politician, diplomat, and lawyer who taught in various schools earlier in his career.

He was born on 14 August 1926 at Koforidua, New Juaben in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

He was Ghana's ambassador to Mexico and the Eastern Regional Minister of Ghana before he ventured into law. He attended St. Augustine's College in 1944 and received his certificate in 1948.

Augustine Kwame Adu studied English in 1952 and later studied philosophy and Latin at the University College of Gold Coast. He proceeded to the University of Nottingham on a British Council Scholarship where he obtained a Diploma in English studies in 1960. In 1972 he received an LLB (London) and was called to the English bar in July 1972.

He served as the Regional Chief Executive of the Eastern Region (Regional minister) and Ghana's ambassador to Mexico. He ventured into law later in his career.

After his secondary school education, was a teacher at the Mount Mary College of Education from 1948 to 1950 and also worked at the St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School from 1950 to 1952.

Rising through the ranks, he went back to the Mount Mary College of Education in 1958 and become the vice principal. He was also a headmaster of Opoku Ware School.

Augustine Kwame Adu was appointed Regional Chief Executive of the Eastern Region (Eastern Regional Minister) in the Busia government in 1969 after Ghana had become a republic. A year after that, he was appointed Ghana's ambassador to Mexico.

He served till 1972 when the Busia government was overthrown and left for London.

In October 1973, he was called to the bar and was Supreme Knight of the Nobel order of the Knights of Marshall from 1994-to 1996.
