Augustus Molade Akiwumi was a barrister and judge. He became the second Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana between 1958 and 1960. He was the vice president of the Red Cross League and was also an inaugural Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana between 1960 and 1961.

He was born in Lagos, Nigeria to a large Yoruba family of twelve children. He then relocated to Ghana with his father S. O. Akiwumi.

He lived with a Smith family of Crosby, Cumbria in England in 1910. There, he attended Queen's College, Taunton, Somerset. Seven of his other siblings also attended boarding school in England.

He studied law at the Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, and trained as a banker at the Midland Bank, Ludgate Hill, London. In 1921, he was called to the bar at the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn and later appointed a Supreme Court Judge in Ghana. While still a Supreme Court Judge, he was in 1964 appointed Legal Secretary in the East African Common Service Organisation.

In 1958, he was Speaker of the Parliament in Ghana.

He married Grace Aryee and, subsequently, Helen Kabuki Ocansey, both Ghanaians.
