Benjamin K. D. Asante is a Ghanaian engineer and international consultant for the gas and oil industry. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company. H has also worked with Nova-TransCanada, Jacobs Engineering, and Enron.

He was born in Kumasi, Ashanti Region of Ghana but is an Asante-Akyem from Juansa. He was born to Kwasi Aninakwa-Asante and Gladys Mensah.

He attended the Bantama/Asokwa Presby primary schools, and State Experimental and City of Kumasi middle schools and then obtained his GCE Ordinary Level and GCE Advanced Level certificates in science from the Mfantsipim School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and there pursued a Master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada.

He also completed a joint dissertation on Multiphase (Oil and Gas) Flow at Imperial College London and the University of Calgary and obtained a Ph.D. in chemical engineering.

Benjamin Asante had his national service at the Industrial Company in Kumasi in 1984 and has worked for major operating companies as well as engineering consulting companies in Canada, the US, and Ghana in various technical and management roles.

Benjamin Asante provides consulting and engineering services to the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Some countries he has provided engineering services to include: Ghana, Bolivia, China, Argentina, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Colombia, Russia, Australia, Abu Dhabi, Canada, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Bangladesh, Peru, Pakistan, Chile, Vietnam, the U.S, and Malaysia. His expertise was brought to the fore after 2007 when Ghana discovered oil in commercial quantities.

Beong is an expert, he has taught gas processing and pipeline engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Technology and Imperial College, London.

During Ghana's first gas infrastructure project he was the technical director and in 2008, developed the first gas infrastructure and utilization master plan for Ghana.

Asante was one of only five Africans to be invited by the United States Department of Energy to help author a book on natural gas and liquefied natural gas.

In 2004, he was an expert witness in the resolution of the gas custody dispute between Bolivia and Brazil.

Benjamin Asante was appointed as the acting CEO of Ghana Gas in 2017 by President Nana Akufo-Addo replacing George Yankey. Some groups in the Nzema area, where the operations of Ghana Gas are situated had doubts and questioned his position and the president's decision. It was alleged by the group, that whilst he was consulting for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, was involved in some controversial deals while.

Other groups rose in support of the president's appointee and it was believed that a native of the Nzema area, Salary Nokoe should have taken up that position.

Awulae Agyevi Kwame II, Paramount Chief of Nsein was opposed to the appointment of Benjamin Asante and pledged to work with him in February 2017.
