Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi is a Ghanaian politician and academic. He was a former the Minister of Education and a member of the New Patriotic Party.
He was born on 21 January 1945 at Jama-Techiman in his constituency.
He attended the University of Ghana for a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1969. He also obtained a Master's Degree in Zoology from Michigan in the United States, where he earned his doctorate in 1972.
He was elected in 2008 obtaining over 53.4% of the total votes.
Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi contributed immensely to the University of Cape Coast and University of Ghana system for many years and has been especially instrumental in the reform and decentralization of the university system in the country.
