Born Abubakar Siddiq, Daasebre Gyamenah is a Ghanaian highlife artist. He first shot into the music scene in the 1990s with his hit song "Kokooko" featuring Lord Kenya.
His smooth seductive voice and corny lyrics won him the hearts of many women with his single, "Kokooko". He has since become a household name with several albums to his credit.
He was born in Koforidua, Eastern Region of Ghana to a royal household. His mother, a Muslim died when he was three months old.
Daasebre Gyamenah first released an album in the late 80s but was not successful.
In 2006 Daasebre took a flight from Ghana to London to work on his music. At Heathrow airport, he was arrested by police with claims that it contained cocaine. He spent 11 in prison. He then released "Saa Na Etee"singing about his arrest.
He died on 29 July 2016 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. There was a lot of drama surrounding his burial as part of his family was Muslim and the other was royal. This caused a long feud that lasted for about 6 months.
