Oheneba Boachie-Adjei is a Ghanaian orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in spinal reconstruction and the treatment of kyphosis and scoliosis.

He was born on 16 December 1950 in Kumasi, Ghana to Mary Akosua Dwomoh and Mr. Boakye Dankwa. He fell critically ill at the age of six and by a locally-born, Western-trained physician. He then vowed and dedicated his life to saving others.

Leaving Ghana at the age of 21, he went to the United States and graduated with Honors from Brooklyn College in New York in 1976 and graduated from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons with his MD in 1980.

He is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, in the United States, and is an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, all in New York City.

Oheneba Boachie-Adjei has invented and patented several devices used in spinal surgery. He has also lectured and published on the subject.

He is the president and founder of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine in Accra, Ghana.

Awards

In 2006, he was named the David B. Levine Endowed Clinical Research Chair at Hospital for Special Surgery.

the Humanitarian Award of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in 2004.

President of the Scoliosis Research Society from 2008 to 2009.

He appeared in a documentary on the Discovery Channel, “Surgery Saved My Life”

In 2019, he received the Ghana UK-Based Achievement Awards (GUBA) for his contributions in the field of medicine.
