Rev Dr Anthony Ababio-Danquah Of Assemblies Of God Ghana Retires At Twifo Praso

Mon, 9 Oct 2023 Source: Afriyie Kwaku Boachie

One of the long-serving pastors, Rev Dr Anthony Ababio-Danquah, the immediate past Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, Central Region 'B' retires at Twifo Praso.

The colourful ceremony was conducted and graced by Rev Dr Stephen Yenusom Wengam, the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana and the vice president of Africa Assemblies of God Alliance. Rev. Dr Wengam urged the clergy to leave a holy life to transform society. He further stressed that if Christians in Ghana should portray holiness, Ghana will be transformed within a short time.

The general Superintendent and Rev Efiinu Kwaku Obiako, the regional Superintendent of Central Region 'B' commended Rev Dr Anthony Ababio-Danquah for the hard work he has rendered to Assemblies of God since 1999, which was a greater force to be reckoned with.

PROFILE OF REV. DR. ABABIO-DANQUAH

Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio - Danquah was born on 13th April, 1958 at Twifo Nyenasi in the Central Region of the Republic of Ghana to Mr. Peter Kwame Dankwah and Mrs. Helina Dankwah (all of blessed memory).

He completed his first cycle education at the Roman Catholic School, Twifo Nyenasi in 1975. Heobtained his GCE O'Level at the St. Augustine's Secondary School, Bogoso in 1981. After, staying in Nigeria for a year, he returned to Ghana and enrolled at the University Practice Secondary School in Cape Coast where he obtained his A Level in 1984.

He served as a national service personnel at Twifo Praso Secondary School in 1985. He wasadmitted to the Institute of Professional Studies in 1986 and later left for University of Ghana -legon in 1987. Having obtained his Bachelor of Art (B. A. Hon) in 1990, he was posted for anotherterm of national service with Ghana Cocoa board. He served as Akuafo Cheque monitor in Kasapin near Ahafo Mim and became the Deputy Regional Co-Ordinator. A dramatic change took place in December 1990 when he became a "born again" Christian with newly planted Assemblies of God Church at Kasapin. Shortly after this, he sensed the call of God on his life.

Upon completion of his national service, he joined the Ghana Education Service and taught for some few years as a tutor in Asankangwa Senior High and Twifo Praso Senior High School respectively. In 1997, he resigned from teaching and enrolled at the Assemblies of God Southern Ghana Bible College (Now AGTS) where he obtained a Diploma in Theology in 1999. He has since served the Assemblies of God church in various capacities - as local Church Pastor, District Treasurer, District Secretary, District Pastor, Regional Treasurer and the pioneer Regional Superintendent of Central B. He has held and continues to hold several executive positions at both religious and secular arenas.

He successful completed his Master's Degree (M.A) at the University of Cape Coast while serving as the Central Regional Treasurer in 2013. A change of leadership, however, stripped him of his position as the Regional Treasurer in January, 2014. But God was preparing him for a greater assignment. It is historic to note that exactly a year after this, the Central Region Assemblies of God was divided into two Regions - A and B and Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio - Danquah was elected the first Regional Superintendent for the new region (Central Region 'B').

He obtained his Ph.D. in 2017 from LEUTP. Scotland, UK and was awarded an honorary doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Divinity by Rescue Mission Theological University - Georgia, USA that same year.

Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah got converted on 17th November, 1990 while serving as a National Service Personnel with the Ghana COCOBOARD in Kasapin near Mim in the Brong Ahafo Region. His conversion was so dramatic as he received baptism in the Holy Spirit evidenced in speaking in tongues the same night he accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour. Barely two months later he was baptized in water by Rev. Paa Duodu from Ahafo Mim Assemblies of God Church.

Around the same period, the Lord waked him up one might and asked him to read Isaiah 60. From then on, he sensed the call of God upon his life. What is so intriguing is that his wife, Mrs. Martha Ababio-Danquah had told him about five (5) years ago, even before his conversion that the Lord had revealed to her that Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah would become a Pastor one day.

Even though there were so many confirmations from other men and women of God including his P During the 1995/1996 academic year he applied for transfer from Asankrangwa Senior High School in the Western Region to Twifo Praso Senior High School in the Central Region.

Instead of staying at Twifo Praso, he rather chose to commute from his hometown Twifo Nyenasi to Praso. Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah, planted the Pentecostal Worship Centre Assembly of God at Twifo Nyenasi (his hometown) in 1996 and proceeded to plant another church at Twifo Kayireku (his father's hometown) that same year together with Rev. Ransford Arko who had then started a fellowship there. In January, 1997, he resigned from the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) and enrolled at the Southern Bible College -Kormantse near Saltpond.

Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah and Mrs. Martha Ababio-Danquah got married in 1978 and are blessed with four (4) biological and several adopted, children, the Lord has also blessed them with many grandchildren. Martha has since been a great help to her husband both in the upbringing of their children and ministry.

She engaged in petty trading to support their children as well as the husband's education. She was the first person to sense the call of God upon her husband through divine revelation.

Martha, with her prophetic gift and insight has been a partner, in her husband's ministry. She is indeed her husband's prayer warrior.

PASTORATES: PAST AND PRESENT

EMMANUEL ASSEMBLY OF GOD- TWIFO HEMANG 1997-2007

JOY ASSEMBLY OF GOD - TWIFO MAMPONG 1997-2007 Just after the 1st semester at the Bible college (then SGBC), Rev. Dr. Anthony TRANSFORM Ababio-Danquahwas given oversight responsibilities for the above two churches. He was thus installed as the substantive Pastor for those two churches and affiliates upon graduation from the Bible College in 1999 and was stationed at Twifo Hemang.

While at the Bible College, Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah in partnership with Rev. Clement Nkiako (then a Deacon at Emmanuel AGTwifo Hemang) planted two churches at Denkyira Wawase and Abrafo in December 1998 and January 1999 respectively. ALIVE ASSEMBLY OF GOD - TWIFO PRASO AND AFFILIATE CHURCHES (2007 - 2023) Just as the Apostle Peter was to the Jews, Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah ministered among his own people.

In November, 2007, he was transferred from Twifo Hemang to Twifo Praso Alive Assemblies of God church, where he has pastored to date. His vision for the church was four told. First to mobilized and establish the few members whom he came to meet. This he saw as paramount since the church has suffered for almost seven (7) years of inadequate pastoral caredue to the incapacitation and death of the pioneer pastor, later Rev. Emmanuel Ajoku Nyarko. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. His strategy was to embark on visitation, structured Bible studies and seminars intended

to establish them firmly in the Lord, with the view to fostering unity, sense of duty and devotion among the members. Second to find a befitting place of worship for a congregation that has been in a wooden structure for one and half decades.

Rev. Dr. Anthony Ababio-Danquah, took it upon himself to secure the necessary documents to enable them put up a permanent place of worship. With the support of the Church Board and members the wooden structure was pulled down and construction of Alive Auditorium begun in full swing in January, 2010. Third: to identity and train workers at all levels. (Ephesians 4:11-15). The Church has since 2009 trained four pastors. Currently we have one Bible Student.

Fourth: to embark on expansion and Church Planting. So far three churches have been

planted in Twifo Praso township in addition to Alive AGs namely: Evangel, Mount Zion

and Holy Ghost Assembly. The last branch however has been asked to worship with Alive

temporary due to some unforeseeable circumstance. Both Evangel and Mount Zion have permanent places of worship. Moreover, the Church (Alive AG) has been strengthening and supporting some churches in the hinterland
