The cadaver was transported to the morgue
Last Sunday, a 19-year-old male drowned in a well in Yawkwei, Asante Akim Central.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Prince Oppong, tumbled into the well while attempting to remove a plumbing pipe that had fallen into it.
The news of the tragedy drew a large crowd to the scene, where they discussed the incident and sobbed uncontrollably while others used their mobile phones to photograph the corpse.
Yesterday, Konongo Municipal Fire Commander Richard Aweso confirmed the tragedy to the Ghanaian Times.
According to him, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was notified of the incident at 9:55 a.m., and a crew from the Konogo Fire Station was sent to the site.
According to the Fire Chief, personnel extracted Oppong's body from the well and turned it over to the police.
He stated that the cadaver had been placed in the Yawkwei Steward Morgue.
DOIII Aweso advised the public to contact the GNFS immediately at the following emergency numbers: 192 and 112.
In addition, he urged the public to collaborate with the GNFS in emergency situations.
