Celebrities, like the rest of us, are human; occasionally, we all experience tragedy, and celebrities are no exception.Throughout the years and in recent times, numerous celebrities have lost a family member.This week's LEADERSHIP Weekend examines five Nigerian celebrities who lost their first son.

Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie, a Nollywood actor, lost his first son, Kambilichukwu, in March of 2023.Edochie was transported to the hospital after becoming unconscious, according to Vanguard. The 16-year-old youngster reportedly passed away later on.

An anonymous source informed Vanguard that the actor had confirmed Kambilichukwu's passing.According to the report, Yul's sister-in-law who was present at the scene stated that the youngster spent the entire night studying for his exam.

He was reportedly playing football with his friends before suffering a seizure and being rushed to the hospital, where he later perished.

Two months ago, when he turned 16, Yul Edochie and his first wife, May, celebrated their first son and second child.

Davido

The music sensation Davido and his fiancee Chioma lost their first son Ifeanyi on October 31, 2023. Reportedly drowning in the swimming pool, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital after being discovered and rushed there.

D’Banj

In 2018, D'banj, an Afrobeats musician from Nigeria, lost his only son.It was reported that the child perished in his father's swimming pool in Ikoyi, Lagos.To lament the death of his son, D'banj had posted a black background with the caption "Tough times, but my God is Always and Unwaveringly Faithful" on his Instagram page.Today, D'Banj is the proud father of two beautiful children.

Eucharia Annuobi

On August 22, 2017, the actress-turned-evangelist born in Owerri lost her 15-year-old son to sickle cell anemia. Her death occurred after an acrimonious divorce from her spouse. The only offspring of Eucharia was the son.

Mr Ibu

On January 25, 2012, Mr. Ibu, also known as Nollywood actor John Okafor, lost his son.On a Monday evening, he lost his two-year-old son Emmanuel Mandela Okafor to the cold hands of mortality.Long after his son's death, the thespian was left in a state of profound grief.Mr. Ibu had posted on Facebook, "R.I.P., my son Mandy..."Your mother and father love you very much, but God loves you more."
