To encourage students to enroll in technical and vocational programs, the Chereponi Member of Parliament, Tahidu Abdul Razak, has donated ten new sewing machines to the Chereponi Senior High School (SHS).
The support, according to the representative, will enable the school to reinstate vocational studies in the curriculum, which was eliminated due to a lack of resources.
This is intended to promote skill development so that students can function independently upon graduation.
During a brief ceremony to pass over the items, the representative emphasized the significance of the assistance.
"Initially, the technical school offered this vocational program, but it was eventually eliminated. The new headmaster felt it necessary to reintroduce this to the school where they began this year. I was given a letter requesting sewing machines for approximately 40 pupils on short notice, and with God's help, we were able to provide ten sewing machines; we can add more in the future," he said.
The superintendent of Chereponi SHS expressed delight at the gesture, stating that it will aid in reintroducing the course.
"This morning is fantastic for us because our representative has donated ten sewing machines to supplement the technical program. "Words cannot express how appreciative we are for this wonderful gesture," he remarked.
The teacher in charge of the subject at the school bemoaned the difficulty of teaching the topic and praised the representative for his timely intervention.
Seidu Asana, one of the ecstatic students, said in an interview about how the support will improve their studies, "We are thrilled that the MP came to our school to observe our learning; our machines are in poor condition, so we are very grateful for the support."
Isaac Kofi Mensah, a member of the Chereponi SHS staff, stated, "We are very appreciative and pleased with the gesture. We look forward to hearing more."
