A 22-year-old Nigerian who participated in the "Sakawa" practice confessed recently to murdering two chaste women in Ghana for the purposes of a money ritual. The individual, identified as Praise Iwoh from Delta State, made his confession during a visit to the Nigerian God's Delight Gospel Assembly, where he sought deliverance from his evil deeds.
According to his confession, Sakawa is a sophisticated form of cyber fraud prevalent in Nigeria that employs human sacrifices to achieve one's goals. Iwoh disclosed that a "Mallam" (an Islamic spiritual leader) in Kumasi, the capital of Ghana's Ashanti Region, had urged him to present two virtuous women for a money ritual. Iwoh was then able to become wealthy by sacrificing these two virgins to the Mallam.
Iwoh expressed contrition for his actions and sought salvation during his confession. It is unclear whether he will face legal consequences for his involvement in the homicides.
