The Ashanti Region's Obuasi and Atwima Kwadwoma municipalities now have NHIS offices. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye acknowledged the efforts of key individuals, including traditional authorities, whose enormous contributions enabled the completion of the construction of these two ultra-modern structures to service their local communities.

The new NHIS offices will provide healthcare access and address the requirements of members in the two catchment areas.

The CEO of the NHIA, Dr. Okoe Boye, reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the Scheme's viability by ensuring that all Ghanaians have access to healthcare.

He acknowledged that the Scheme encounters a few obstacles, such as healthcare facilities asking NHIS members for unauthorized payments, but he advised the public not to let these obstacles prevent them from joining the Scheme.

Dr. Okoe Boye continued, "One is still better off on the Scheme than having to pay more at health facilities if not on the Scheme."

The NHIA administrator admonished certain uncooperative healthcare providers to cease billing unauthorized fees to NHIS members and stated that a report from the newly formed Co-payments committee will soon be reviewed, with punitive measures administered to misbehaving healthcare providers who are not abiding by the terms of engagement.

The Member of Parliament for Obuasi East, represented by the MCE, thanked the Authority for providing the municipality with a suitable office.

Then, he requested support from residents, stakeholders, and opinion leaders so that the Scheme could operate efficiently.

Nana Niben Sra, chief of Trede, who presided over the opening of the Atwima Kwanwoma district office, lent his support to the appeal for Atwima Kwanwoma residents to enroll in the NHIS.

He commended the Authority for providing a brand-new office to serve his constituents.
