Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey Tawiah, CEO of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), has inaugurated three boreholes in Ga Mashie, a subdivision of Accra.

The initiative, which was funded by Madam Peggy Adamafio, President and Founder of Relief and Aid International, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) supporting brilliant but needy students, is anticipated to, among other things, provide relief and put an end to the community's recurring water shortages.

Addressing a durbar of Ga Mashie's chiefs and residents, Accra's first female mayor urged locals to maintain and care for the project to ensure its long-term viability and promised additional development projects in the near future.

The honorable Sackey advocated for inclusiveness and a unified front among the residents of Ga Mashie in order to nurture growth and development, while admonishing the youth to cease engaging in activities that promote laziness and impede productivity.

Madam Peggy Adamafio, for her part, noted that the borehole project at Ga Mashie was not the first of its kind, and she outlined similar projects undertaken by her team, including the commissioning of two boreholes at Denkyira, the provision of electricity and street lights to Tupa, and the construction of streetlights at other schools in the Greater Accra Region.

She promised to cover the cost of the electricity required to pump the underground water for ten years to assure a continuous supply of potable water.

Madam Adamafio admonished the project's beneficiaries to support other destitute and disabled children in the community once they attain positions of power and influence in society.
