Francis-Xavier Sosu, the representative for the Madina constituency, has criticized the government for what he describes as a failed effort to combat illicit mining.

Sosu asserted that the government has misled Ghanaians regarding national policy issues, including climate change.

"The galamsey battle has been extremely disappointing, and the government has failed Ghanaians, particularly in light of Professor Frimpong-Boateng's galamsey report."

The government can sometimes make beautiful commitments to afforestation and the protection of the environment, but on the blind side of all Ghanaians, they will be the ones leading the degradation of the environment. To me, this demonstrates hypocrisy, bad faith, and a disregard for Ghanaians.

Francis-Xavier Sosu, addressing the media at the 2023 National Youth Conference (NYC) on natural resources and environmental governance, also called for the establishment of an independent commission to investigate the issues raised by Professor Frimpong-Boateng's exposé.

He further charged that the government was plagued by policy crises and urged Ghanaians to demand accountability for the government's promises and commitments.

"The government is experiencing severe policy crises because the credibility of every promise it makes is always in doubt.
