The race for the NPP presidential nomination is a race to nowhere, according to Owusu Kwakye.

Felix Owusu Kwakye, who served as Deputy Minister of Information before he left that position, has said that all of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer hopefuls are competing in a race to nowhere.
According to him, none of these candidates, including the eventual nominee from among them, will have a chance in hell of winning the presidential election in 2024. He disclosed that virtually all of them had contributed in some way to the "catastrophic performance" that the party had delivered over the course of the preceding seven years.
Mr. Kwakye indicated that they are also a part of the devastating consequence that the "disastrous performance has had on the people of Ghana, the complete decimation, destruction of the Ghanaian economy and the worsening of the livelihoods of the people of Ghana," which is not something that can be forgiven. This is not something that can be forgiven because it is something that has had a devastating effect on the people of Ghana.
"Therefore, all 10 people who have shown up are merely in a race to nowhere because the kind of misrule and awful governance that has been delivered by the NPP over the course of the last eight years do not qualify them for an extension of their mandate...... However, it is easy to see that they require somebody to lead their campaign in 2024, and as a result, they will choose a candidate.
As a result of this, Mr. Kwakye pointed out that it is irrelevant what these potential leaders do to win the favour of Ghanaians because their time is up and they will "leave power in 2024 because the people of Ghana will vote them out."
He explained that the history of Ghanaian voters demonstrates that they do not put up with "maladministration and incompetence," as seen by the record of the country.
"They do not forgive the infliction of economic hardships, and especially at this time when it is extraordinary, there's no way that they are going to survive it."

Mr. Kwakye, commenting on the campaigns that have been waged by the various NPP presidential hopefuls, stated that in terms of rhetoric, exchanges, and verbal justice, this contest happens to be one of the cleanest compared to the contest in 2007 where President Akufo-Addo himself was at the "front of accusations" against Alan Kyerematen. Mr. Kwakye was referring to the fact that President Akufo-Addo was at the "front of accusations" against Mr.
He related how, in an interview that was granted, the current President Akufo-Addo pointedly accused the previous President Kufuor of backing Alan Kyerematen. He said this happened.
"I remember how Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, who also ran in that primary election, accused Alan Kyerematen of having access to state facilities... Therefore, in terms of rhetoric, this has been toned down, and the concerns have, so to speak, been suppressed...
In addition, Mr. Kwakye conveyed his dissatisfaction by stating that he does not feel enthusiastic about their campaign. With this, he indicated that there is no way the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is going to survive the elections in 2024, as the only things they bank on are the misuse of power and national resources to finance their campaign, and maybe ethno-tribal considerations – because of where some of their significant support originates from. He said this to show that there is no way the NPP is going to survive the elections in 2024.
"But even a visceral assessment of the political landscape of Ghana today, as well as the feelings and sentiments of the voter out there," the author writes, "shows clearly that those two will not save the NPP in the 2024 elections."
Commenting on the various candidates and the messages that they have conveyed to the public, the former deputy information minister remarked that it is pretty evident that even within the NPP, they acknowledge the fact that they have not done well. He said this in reference to the fact that it is quite obvious that even within the NPP, they acknowledge the fact that they have not done well.
He explained that this is the case because, with the possible exception of Dr. Bawumia himself, all of the other candidates have delivered their speeches in a way that gives the impression that they are aware that they have not performed very well.
"When Kwabena Agyepong first started his campaign, he gave a stirring speech, and I was there to hear it. That would have put him ahead in a normal situation if individuals within the NPP were thinking sensibly, and I say this with intention because that is what I'm referring to here. I've overheard Boakye Agyarko and Dr. Apraku bemoaning the fact that he has been utterly sidelined and that he believes that he is the mainstay of the party and that he has some contributions to make but that contribution has been overlooked...
