On Monday, August 14, James Kwasi Appiah filed a formal protest as part of his campaign to win a spot on the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association in the upcoming GFA elections. His goal is to be elected to one of those positions.

According to reports, the forward who once played for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has successfully completed all of the required filing requirements. On Friday, August 11, 2023, all of these filings were to be turned in by the end of the working day. Appiah is currently working hard to achieve his goal of being elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ghana Football Association for the next four years.

The Ghana Football Association had originally stated that the month of October 2023 would be the elective congress month for the elections; however, the organisation later confirmed that the quadrennial election to determine leaders for the next four years will take place on September 27, 2023. This was despite the fact that the organisation had earlier announced that the month of October 2023 would be the elective congress month for the elections.

George Kwesi Afriyie, a former Vice President of the GFA, will compete against incumbent Kurt Okraku for the presidency seat. George Kwesi Afriyie will be running against Okraku.

After being the only contender to submit by the deadline on Friday, Gifty Oware-Mensah, the owner of Berry Ladies Football Club, will go unopposed for the position in the women's elite league because she was the only candidate to do so.
