According to the Queen Mother of the Greater Accra Tomato Transporters and Sellers Association, Otumfuor Charity, Ghana relies heavily on imports to meet its tomato demand, but recent supply chain disruptions from its northern neighbor have left retailers struggling to meet demand.

.From December to May, we do not harvest tomatoes in Ghana.

This year, ongoing conflicts in Burkina Faso have made it increasingly difficult to access the country.

We purchase tomatoes annually, but prices do not increase to this extent.

"It takes three days to harvest and transport tomatoes to Ghana.

There are disputes where we purchase peppers.

We are only there to purchase tomatoes for resale here."
