Henry Kwabena Kokofu, executive director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was elected as the sub-regional coordinator for West Africa for the AfriMAB BUREAU in Rwanda.The 7th General Assembly of the African network of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves (AfriMAB) is scheduled for 2-5 May 2023 in Musanze, Rwanda.
AfriMAB is comprised of sub-Saharan MAB national committees and UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
Ghana, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Zambia, and South Africa are among this year's participants.Dr. X represented Ghana.
Kokofu, Chairman of the Ghana MAB National Committee and Delegation Head, and Sylvester Koranteng, National Secretariat Representative and Ghana MAB Youth Network Representative.
During the election of the AfriMAB Bureau, Ghana was chosen as the sub-regional coordinator for West Africa.
As part of the effort to attain sustainable development, it is anticipated that opportunities for research will be pursued in order to enhance the restoration efforts through Biosphere Reserves.After receiving his oath of office, the Executive Director of the EPA, Dr.
Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Kwaku Afriyie.He indicated that, as the Sub-Regional Coordinator, Ghana "will also continue to promote knowledge exchanges and experience sharing on sustainable practices to achieve the Ecosystem Restoration agenda"
