In Akwatia, Kade, Suhum, and Koforidua, seven (7) unlawful connections were discovered during the month-long revenue mobilization exercise.

Notable among the identified illegal connections are a bar in Suhum that bypassed a meter and a customer who illegally connected power.

Thursday, April 27, 2023, at a press conference in Koforidua, Eastern Regional General Manager of ECG Mrs. Sariel Etwire stated this.

She stated that the Region intended to collect 231 million cedis during the month-long exercise, but had only been able to retrieve Gh63,6 million cedis as of April 20, 2023.

Exercise which began on 20th March and ended on 20th April,2023 recorded two incidents of attacks, the first at Akyem Apinaman in Denkyembuor district, where an Assembly Member for the area incited customers against the ECG staff, and the second at Otweso near Nkurakan in Yilo krobo municipality; however, the Police intervened swiftly to restore order in all incidents.

Five detained suspects are assisting police with their investigation.

The Eastern Regional General Manager of ECG stated that the company has identified defective meters and initiated replacement procedures.

Regarding Self-help Electrification Project (SHEP) meters, Mrs. Sariel Etwire stated, "The company is intensifying the capture of all SHEP meters to ensure that every customer receives their bills and pays them on time." After three months of installation, customers who have not received their invoices should contact one of our 14 district offices for assistance.

Additionally, she urged postpaid ECG customers to pay their invoices within two weeks of receiving them to avoid disconnection.

Mrs. Ariel Etwire thanked the Police, ECG District Managers and Staff, and the media for their assistance throughout the exercise.
