Get to know the players that have played for both Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are two of the biggest names in Ghana football history and also has the bitterest rivalry in the nation. Between them is a combined League titles of 45 and a plethora of other titles been domestic or continental cups.

These two teams have also produce a lot of quality players for themselves and also the National team of Ghana,The Black Stars. So with this in mind it makes it difficult for players to switch camp from one side to the other. But as we all know there is nothing like impossibility in this sport called football, within a twinkle of an eye, something you never envisage happens. So in this article we list a couple of players that has played for both respective clubs either via straight transfer or vice versa .

Charles Kumi Gamfi.

Born on the 4th of December 1929, C.K Gyamfi played for Asante Kotoko between 1949 and 1954, later joined Hearts in 1956 to 1960, sandwiched between these two sides was Kumasi Great Ashantis in 1954 to 1956.

Osei Kofi.

Now a Reverend, He also won league titles with both teams starting off with Hearts in 1961/62 season before winning with Kotoko in 1964, 1965 and 1967. He became the first player to win league titles with both sides.

Opoku Afriyie (Bayie).

Opoku Afriyie won four league titles with Asante Kotoko and also emerged as the league's top scorer twice in 1979 and 1981 which he scored 21. He joined Hearts in 1984 and he helped them win the league title after a four year drought.

Charles Taylor.

Taylor played for Hearts between 2000 to 2003 where he won the league in 2000, 2001 and 2002 in a team coached by the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio. Addition to the league titles were the Ghanaian FA Cup, CAF Champions league triumphs in 2000 and a CAF Super Cup in 2001. Taylor will then be controversially transferred to their arch rivals Kotoko for a then domestic transfer record fee of $42000 as he boycotted training to force a move. After his move to the Porcupine Warriors, he helped the club end their 10 year wait to win the league. He will again play for Hearts (on loan) after stints with Tunisian side Etoile in October 2006 where he will once again win another two league titles with them. In 2002 he emerged as the joint top scorer in the Ghana League with 18 goals with teammate Bernard Don Bortey, the only time such has ever happened.

Emmanuel Osei Kuffour.

As for Kuffour he's held in high esteem by both set of supporters. He's known nationwide as "The General". Hearts signed him for a reported 75 million cedis, current currency form of (7500 cedis). He won league titles(1997/98, 1998/1999,1999/2000,2000/2001 & 2002) with them including CAF Champions league in 2000 where he emerged as the top scorer with 10 goals. He joined Kotoko and also won the league title in 2007/08. In the year 2000 he won Ghana Premier League Payer of the Season.

Amusah Gbadamoshie, Wallace Addy, Sam Ampeh, Seth Ampadu , Nana Eshun, Kofi Wusu, Sampson Lamptey, Kofi Abbrey, Michael Asante, Soulemana Abdulaye, Edward Agyemang Duah, Douglas Nkrumah, Lawrence Adjei, Louis Agyemang, Joe Louis, Ashittey Olenu and the new signing Mohammed Alhassan.
