The GFA Foundation has paid a visit to Sellas Tetteh, a former coach for Ghana, at his Accra home.

The Foundation also gave Mr. Tetteh a donation of GHS50,000.00, or fifty thousand cedis.

The GFA Foundation was established and subsequently launched, according to Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, as a result of the Association's current leadership's desire and commitment to improve the living conditions of retired football players who may be in need due to old age, illness, injury, or general deprivation.

The GFA Foundation, which was established earlier this week by the GFA as its social intervention arm, has visited the former Black Stars coach as its first action.

Coach Sellas Tetteh received a heartfelt commendation from President Simeon-Okraku for his "invaluable and dedicated service" to the country.

He said to the happy-looking former coach, who previously oversaw the national teams of Sierra Leone and Rwanda, "I am glad to see you in good health."

He used the occasion to address recent media reports claiming that the coach is owed bonuses and wages by the GFA or Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He claims that the team has received all of the benefits, including the vehicles promised to them after winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The GFA Foundation's Director, Malcolm Frazier Appeadu, stated that the grant is an expression of the Foundation's strategic goal of enhancing the lives and livelihoods of football players and communities.

Even though we are only a week old, Malcolm explained, "We felt it was absolutely necessary to come to you with the Foundation's widow's mite to facilitate your full recovery and also towards your upkeep."

He emphasized that the gesture is also in keeping with GFA CARES, one of the five thematic areas of the GFA Foundation that supports the welfare of former national players and football officials. He assured the coach that the Foundation would frequently follow up on him.

Former Black Stars and Black Satellites coach Sellas Tetteh expressed his gratitude to the GFA and its Foundation for the visit and gift.

He also expressed his gratitude to the President for personally supporting his enrollment in the 2021 Ghanaman Centre of Excellence, Prampram, CAF License A Refresher Course for Coaches.

In addition, he praised God for the tremendous generosity Ghanaians have shown him ever since he stopped coaching.

The coach's family notified the GFA delegation that he was now healthy and robust and could carry out his regular tasks on his own, including driving, among other things.

Ghana won the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt under the direction of Sellas Tetteh, making history as the first African side to do so. In 2009, he received the CAF Coach of the Year award. He has also served as a senior national team coach for Sierra Leone and Rwanda. He led Liberty Professionals, a local team headquartered in Dansoman.

Michael Osekere and Samuel Aboabire, the president of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, were both part of the group.
