Samuel Dubik Mahama, the managing director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for supporting the ongoing revenue mobilization effort intended to recover outstanding arrears owed by the company's customers.

Before the tax mobilization exercise started, the president and Mahama had a conversation, during which the president gave Mahama permission to pursue the creditors. He went on to say that although the president had been informed of situations involving the exercise, he maintained his firm attitude, ordering those people to make good on their debts.

The Managing Director also disclosed that he had the support of other top officials, including Vice President Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, and the Minister of Energy, noting that they had all been helpful in the process in an interview with Peace FM's Kokrokoo on April 17, 2023.

"The president, I truly salute him. Before I started the exercise, I spoke with him, and he told me plainly, Mr., go for the money, it's about time we did the right thing.

So, in the majority of the situations that were brought to him, he made it clear that they needed to pay because, if they didn't, did they really expect him to cover the cost for them? Everyone should pay, therefore. Likewise, the Vice PresidentThe kind of support I have received from the Chief of Staff, President, Vice President, and Minister cannot be emphasized enough when you speak the truth.

Aiming to collect all debts owed to the ECG, the revenue mobilization activity started a few weeks ago. Mahama pleaded with each and every consumer to pay their arrears as quickly as possible to prevent disconnection.

He also reaffirmed the company's dedication to providing Ghanaians with a consistent and reliable power supply, and he pleaded for clients to work with the ECG to realize this objective.

Up until all obligations owed to the ECG have been paid off, the income mobilization effort is anticipated to go on.
