Mahamadu Bawumia has informed the Majority caucus of Parliament of his intention to run in November's NPP Presidential Primaries.
.Bawumia is widely regarded as the front-runner to succeed President Akufo-Addo in 2024, but he must defeat Alan Kyeremanteng, a three-time candidate who resigned in January of this year to pursue his presidential ambitions.
.The NPP will elect a presidential candidate for the 2024 elections on November 4, 2023.
The nomination period for the 2023 NPP presidential primaries will run from 26 May to 24 June.
Additionally, the party has announced that congressional primaries will be conducted in February 2024.
The nomination period will be from 20 December 2023 to 4 January 2024.
This means the NPP will select its presidential candidate before its parliamentary candidates.
