Inauguration of the Denkyira Kyekyewere SHS Board of Governors

The Denkyira Kyekyewere Senior High School (SHS) in the Central Region has inaugurated a 14-member Board of Governors to promote quality education and elevate the academic standards of the school.

As required by law, the Board consists of representatives from the Upper Denkyira East Municipal Assembly, the Education Directorate, the Old Students Association, the Traditional Council, and the PTA.

Members include Mr. Peter Bright Amankrah, representative of the Director-General, Mrs. Justine Ivy Apawu, acting regional director of education, Mr. Anthony Takyi, municipal director of education, ACP Baffour Apenteng Nyamekye, and Mrs. Emelia Ankomah, representative of historical interests.

Others include Mr. Frank Danso Oppong and Mr. Charles Adu-Poku, representatives of the Municipal Assembly, Mr. David Prah and Mr. Charles Kwening, representatives of Old Students, Mr. Richard Teye Obodai, Teaching Staff, Mr. Patrick Addae, non-teaching staff, and Ms. Christine Mensah, Board Secretary.

As part of the inauguration, the school launched a fund for the construction of a girls' dormitory to alleviate campus housing issues.

Mrs. Appaw, who inaugurated the Board, stated that it complied with the Act and Regulations of the Ghana Education Service.

She stated that the Board must assume entire management and responsibility for the school and work diligently to fulfill its mandate.

She stated that the members must utilize their influence to enhance the school's infrastructure, academic performance, and discipline.

Mrs. Appaw pledged the Directorate's commitment to resolving the school's numerous challenges in order to enhance service delivery.

Mr. William Bart-Plange, the Headmaster of the School, stated that the administration and faculty were striving to make the institution a destination of choice for the municipality, the region, and Ghana as a whole.

He stated that the Board would advocate for the school's discipline, academic excellence, and growth, and he pleaded for the construction of student and teacher housing to resolve the accommodation issues that remained a significant challenge on campus.

To ensure effective teaching and learning, he encouraged all stakeholders to contribute to the construction of the girls' dormitory and urged the GES to assign specialized tutors to the school.

Mr. Amankrah, on behalf of the Board, commended the school for its trust and pledged to use their expertise to develop it.

He stated that the Board was open to receiving suggestions, expert advice, and support from stakeholders in order to foster growth.

The audience was treated to outstanding performances by the school's cadets, cultural group, and poets.
