John Mahama mocks NHIS, claiming that patients are denied analgesics under the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to former President John Dramani Mahama, holders of National Health Insurance cards are denied access to common medications in various institutions across the nation.

The former president made the announcement in the Upper East Region during his two-day official tour to confer with party delegates in advance of the May 13 primary elections for the House of Representatives.

In a speech to delegates, the former president stated, "We never discuss National Health Insurance. It is merely ineffective due to the fact that the government does not reimburse hospital facilities for treating National Health Insurance recipients. Presently, you can go with your National Health Insurance Card and you will be cared for. If you go to the pharmacy for cough concoction, you will be given paracetamol and antibiotics. Today, if you go to the hospital, you won't even receive analgesics, judging by the state of affairs. The National Drug Control Program (NDC) is arriving to restore National Health Insurance. We will ensure that the tax we obtain is utilized for its intended purpose."

According to Mr. Mahama, this government has limited National Health Insurance, so when the money comes in, they keep a portion of it and refuse to release the rest. Since they have not released funds to the National Health Insurance for the past year or so, we do not know what kind of government this is. He requested
