On Thursday, April 27, New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Kumawu Constituency gathered in large numbers to grieve with family and friends during the one-week observance for the late member of parliament, Philip Basoa.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, ministers, and some members of parliament were among the many mourners and sympathizers.

A frenetic throng of NPP supporters, primarily polling station executives from the Kumawu Constituency, greeted Vice President Bawumia as he arrived at the funeral grounds.

The crowd that followed the Vice President was extremely dense and nearly impossible to penetrate.

Alan Kyerematen, the former Minister of Trade and Industry, was also present at the funeral.

It was anticipated that both the Vice President and Mr. Kyerematen would attract a larger crowd to the funeral, given that they are both NPP presidential candidates.

Nevertheless, if the events on the premises are any indication, it is clear that Vice President Bawumia has the advantage in the Kumawu Constituency.

The jubilant audience greeted the Vice President as he walked alongside the newly elected Parliamentary Candidate for the district, Ernest Yaw Anim.

In addition, it was evident from the gathering that Mr. Anim's fealty and support for the Vice President are unquestionable, contrary to the speculations of Mr. Kyerematen's supporters that the PC supports their candidate.

Previously, the Vice President paid a visit to the chiefs and citizens of Kumawu.

The Vice President was accompanied by a number of Members of Parliament from the Ashanti Region, as well as regional and constituency executives and Party veterans.
