Kwadwo Asamoah, Stephen Appiah lead ex Black Stars Players to donate to Christian Atsu's family

Stephen Appiah and Kwadwo Asamoah were among some former Black Stars players to visit the family house of Christian Atsu on Wednesday, February 22, to commiserate with them.

The Black Stars duo were there together with former Ghana international Rabiu Mohammed, Derek Boateng and Jerry Akaminko to mourn the passing of their ex-teammate.

Atsu met his untimely death during the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Turkey and Syria.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle winger was found dead on February 18 under his residence in southern Turkey.

Atsu and other club representatives had been missing for almost two weeks after the building collapsed.

The players were at the family home of the Ghana international to show support following his passing after being a casualty of the earthquake which happened in Turkey.

His final remains have been returned to his native Ghana amid an outpouring of grief and tributes from all quarters of the world.

Atsu's last contribution as a footballer was a last-ditch free kick for Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

Atsu enjoyed a good time with the Black Stars, making 65 appearances and scoring nine goals for the national team.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United forward spent the last six months of his career in Turkey, where he played for Hatayspor.

Pele commiserates with Atsu's family

Sports Brief also reported on Abedi Pele and his family visiting the family of Atsu to commiserate with them following the passing of the footballer.

The mortal remains of the 31-year-old arrived in Accra on Sunday, with the family and Ghanaians left in a state of mourning.

The government of Ghana, led by Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia - promised a befitting burial for the ex-Black Stars player.

Danilo pays tribute to Atsu

Juventus and Brazilian defender, Danilo paid emotional tribute to Atsu, Sports Brief also reported.

The two were teammates at Portuguese giants, FC Porto, breaking into the senior team in the same year.

Atsu was killed in the earthqake which claimed the lives of over 40,000 people in Turkey and Syria.
