Rose 'Akua Ataa' Mensah, also known as Kyeiwaa, a Kumawood actress, has announced her return to Ghana's television screens after a ten-year absence.

The actress, who had been seeking greener pastures overseas, claimed she was returning to the United States to work on prospective future projects.

In an interview posted to her YouTube channel, she described the hardships she encountered while living abroad, such as having to work menial jobs such as dishwashing and food sales in restaurants to make ends meet.

Akua Atta advised industry participants and stakeholders to join together, support one another, and aid in the restoration of the craft in order to restore the former splendor of the film industry.

"It is challenging to obtain white-collar jobs in the United States; therefore, manual labor jobs are abundant. There is no disgrace in working as a dishwasher in a restaurant, as I did. "I was fortunate to receive assistance from a woman who invited me to work at her restaurant, and I am appreciative to her," she said.

Despite the difficulties she faces abroad, Kyeiwaa is receptive to any potential film roles should a producer request her services.

As for her personal life, the Kumawood actress experienced heartbreak in 2015 after her wedding to her first spouse, Daniel Osei, ended in failure.

Planned for a later church ceremony, Kyeiwaa discovered that Osei was already married to another woman and had children with her shortly after their civil union.

Kyeiwaa, devastated by the news, annulled the marriage only four days after the wedding.

In 2020, she rediscovered love and wed Mr. Michael Kissi Asare in a traditional ceremony attended by close family and friends.

Kyeiwaa's return is a positive development for the Ghanaian film industry, which has declined in recent years.
