As Muslims get ready to celebrate this year's Eid al-Fitr, telecom giant MTN Ghana has given the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, cash and a variety of other gifts.

The purpose of the action is to assist the Chief Imam in performing his social and spiritual responsibilities throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The Chief Imam received a check for $15,000 from MTN Ghana along with a large ram and $2,000 worth of airtime.

15 bags of rice, 10 cartons of vegetable oil, 40 bottles of mineral water, 15 bottles of soft drinks, 10 trays of canned milk, 4 boxes of milo, 5 bags of sugar, and 2 boxes of teabags are among the additional donations.

Mohammed Abubakar, the team's general manager of regional sales, said the donation is an expression of his organization's gratitude to the Chief Imam and the Muslim community for their assistance, patronage, and devotion to MTN.

"As the occasion of Eid draws near, we are aware that he is the father of all. We are here to support the Muslim community through the National Chief Imam because we see so many people who might come here to participate in the feast. Our national donations serve to show how grateful we are for your patronage, support, and allegiance to MTN.

He also urged Muslims to observe moderation in their Eid festivities in order to promote peace.

"While we celebrate, we should all exercise caution. Islam instructs us to be moderate in whatever we do and stresses the importance of life. So let's make sure we don't do anything wrong to our friends and neighbors.

According to Mohammed Abubakar, MTN would make it possible for customers to access their services throughout the celebration and encourage them to register their SIM cards in order to avoid being a victim.

"We will set up tent in each of the Eid fields so that our staff can offer services everywhere. MTN will offer our services to everyone. Now that the NIA has distributed many cards, it would be best if you went to register your SIM cards as soon as you had yours.

On behalf of the Chief Imam, spokesperson Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu thanked MTN Ghana for the thoughtful gesture and prayed for the telecom giant to grow with God's blessings.

"We appreciate you and the respect you show the Grand Imam. We ask Allah to safeguard and prosper your business and provide it His blessings. Let's also hope that we stay together for another year so that we may meet up here and carry on the custom that you started. God bless you, and God bless Ghana, our country of origin.

Similar payments have also been made by MTN Ghana to the regional chief imams of the Ashanti, Western, and Northern regions.
