Manasseh Azure Awuni: Will Akufo-Addo clear the sanitation minister's saga the same way Zoomlion clears rubbish?

Will Akufo-Addo end the saga involving the sanitation minister in the same manner that Zoomlion does with garbage, as Manasseh Azure Awuni asks?

Because members of the government who have been found to have violated conflict of interest boundaries or who have been accused of engaging in some form of corrupt practises have been let free and clear of any issues raised against them, President Akuffo Addo has been labelled as the clearing agent over the past seven years. This is due to the fact that he has let set free and clear of any issues raised against them.

Because of these and many other incidents of a similar nature, Manasseh Azure Awuni posed the following question to Akufo-Addo: "Will Akufo-Addo clear the sanitation minister's saga the same way Zoomlion clears rubbish?"

The President has been given the reputation of being someone who exonerates those he has appointed from any wrongdoing.

After the Sanitation Minister's case was heard in court, Manasseh Azure Awuni asked the question. The case revealed that a staggering one million United States dollars, three hundred thousand Euros, and millions of Ghana cedis were stolen from her apartment, along with a variety of garments, handbags, perfumes, jewellery, Kente fabric, and men's suits.

Ghanaians have a few reasons for their belief that President Akufo-Addo always exonerates his appointees of any misconduct that they may have committed.

There have been a number of high-profile situations in which government officials have been accused of corruption, but the president has exonerated them. In each of these cases, the president's decision was widely publicised. For instance, in the year 2020, the president exonerated Ken Ofori-Atta, who had served as Minister of Finance at the time, of any wrongdoing after he was accused of exploiting his position to advance the interests of the businesses owned by his family.

Additionally, the president has been called out for the way he has handled the Special Prosecutor's Office, which was established in order to examine instances of corruption. The office has been accused of having a political agenda and of being incapable of conducting thorough investigations into allegations of corruption.

There is a school of thought in Ghana that holds that the president is more concerned with defending his own party than he is with combating corruption. They highlight the fact that the president has not taken any serious action against any members of his own party who have been accused of corruption, and they say this is evidence that the president is corrupt.

As a consequence of these aspects, a significant number of Ghanaians have come to the conclusion that the president is not truly committed to eliminating corruption. They refer to him as "the Clearing Agent" because they believe that he is more concerned with exonerating his appointees of wrongdoing than with holding them accountable, which is why they gave him that nickname.

It is crucial to note that these are only some of the reasons why Ghanaians believe that President Akufo-Addo always exonerates his appointees of any wrongdoing. It is also vital to note that these reasons are not the only reasons. This view may also be influenced by other variables, such as the tight relationship that the president maintains with some of his appointees, some of whom have been accused of engaging in corrupt behaviour.

Ghanaians have provided their responses to the questions that Manasseh Azure posed. The majority of people who provided responses to the question are of the opinion that the President will either do nothing about the matter or will stick to his "clearing agent" strategy and do nothing about it.

The question "And what do you think he will do?" was asked in one of the comments that was placed on the post on Twitter. He is going to inform us that investigations have concluded that she is not found of keeping public money and that such money may have been accrued through the minister's private business.

Another individual said that he is going to bet on the clearing agent technique, and he described this strategy as "my best bet."

If it turns out that the cash that was said to have been stolen from Cecilia Abena Dapaah's house was indeed taken, then she has to be questioned as part of the investigation. If a public official is found to have that amount of cash in her home, she ought to provide an explanation as to how she acquired it.
