Andre Dede Ayew, the captain of the senior national team (Black Stars), and his brother Jordan Ayew sponsored an Iftar (breakfast) on Wednesday for Muslim sports administrators and managers to socialize at the Ghana National Mosque in Kanda, an Accra suburb.

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), was present. He praised the occasion as "exemplary" and commended those who could afford to make similar sacrifices for assembling the faithful around a table to eat and pray to Almighty God.

He emphasized the need of prayer and fasting for personal spiritual development when he advised Muslims to continue "to pray and fast" during their daily activities.

Lectures on the importance of Ramadan fasting were mixed with Quranic recitations and prayers, asking Allah for continued blessings on the Ayew family and the expansion of sports in Ghana generally.

Despite not being present, the pair extended congratulations to the Muslim community for completing the month-long spiritual practice successfully and winning Allah's favor.

Muslim expert commended the Ayew family and prayed for their spiritual upliftment for their efforts in hosting the Muslim community for a meal during the beautiful month of Ramadan.

He asked for Allah's guidance so that the sports managers and administrators would be successful and bring Ghana honors.

Abedi Ayew Pele, the father of Andre and Jordan, was commended by Alhaji Abu Sundoko of the Tudu Mighty Jets as a devout Muslim who had instilled in his boys a sense of godliness as well as the virtues of compassion and kindness in giving back to society.

Amin Lamptey, a sports writer and lecturer, as well as many soccer supporters, were also present.
