According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will undoubtedly win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana in 2024.

According to the Unit's most recent report, the primary factors influencing this forecast are weak governance, economic difficulties, and debt restructuring.

"Our baseline prediction is that economic difficulties, the fallout from debt restructuring, and weak governance will generate a wave of anti-incumbent sentiment and drive the electorate to seek change.

The NDC has a strong possibility of winning the 2024 presidential election and securing a legislative majority, according to portions of a report published on April 28.

The Unit also noted that, regardless of who holds power, Ghana's policy will continue to prioritize macroeconomic stability.

Additionally, comparable economic difficulties are anticipated for the new government.

Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen recently resigned to run for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential nomination.

Ex-president John Mahama and ex-finance minister Kwabena Duffuor are anticipated to vie for the NDC and NPP presidential nominations.

According to the EIU's baseline projection, economic difficulties and weak leadership may generate an anti-incumbency wave that favors the opposition NDC.
