NDC's Sammy Gyamfi Exposed Over Fake Bawumia Trends

Mon, 24 Jul 2023 Source: Alby News Ghana

The National Communications Officer for the NDC is Sammy Gyamfi.

In Ghana, it is no longer just a rumour that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind the desperate attempts to depict Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a liar in the country. This has been proven to be the case.

This is due to the fact that a very thorough investigation conducted by the African Academy for Open-Source Investigations (AAOSI) has revealed how the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, and a few unscrupulous agents connected to the main opposition party have been orchestrating politically contrived tweets with the intention of discrediting the Vice President.

The inquiry, which was a part of the AAOSI's efforts to combat misinformation and strengthen democracy in Africa, investigated the origin of the tagging of Vice President Bawumia as a liar using "#Bawuliar" to create fake trends on Twitter. The inquiry was conducted as part of the AAOSI's efforts to combat misinformation and strengthen democracy in Africa.

It also came to light that the negative categorization of Bawumia as a liar was a technique that the NDC actively used to cast a slur on the integrity of Vice President Bawumia and discredit him whenever he spoke on the economy or delivered a significant speech. This was shown by the fact that it was a tactic that the NDC consciously used.

"While we were doing this inquiry, we noticed that practically every comment the Vice President made about the economy was met with an increase in the number of tweets including the hashtag #Bawuliar. The conclusions of the research pointed out that an investigation is being conducted to determine "whether the trend of #Bawuliar is organic or whether it is an attempt orchestrated by political opponents to cast a slur on the credibility of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia."

According to the findings of AAOSI, it was determined that it was a concerted plan directed by Sammy Gyamfi, through his Twitter handles named @sammygyamfi2017, which, according to the investigation, has now morphed into @SammyGyamfi.

Again, the analysis found that another person with the handle "@Annanperry" was one among those who regularly promoted the bogus #Bawuliar tweets alongside several accounts that were affiliated to the opposition party. This particular user described himself as an NDC activist.

The investigation also focused on other areas, such as the top 10 Twitter accounts with the most original #Bawuliar tweets, the top 10 Twitter accounts that retweeted the #Bawuliar tweets, the top 10 amplifiers of the fake trend, the top 10 Twitter accounts whose tweets were retweeted the most, as well as the origin of the orchestrated hashtag "Bawuliar" and the top players in it.

We found that the account of a user named @sammygyamfi2017 on Twitter was the second most influential account regarding the #Bawuliar trend. According to our research, the username for Sammy Gyamfi's official Twitter account was formerly @sammygyamfi2017. This account belonged to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). @SammyGyamfi_ is the username that is currently associated with this account.
