Number Of Eggs Older People Should Eat Daily To Avoid Cholesterol Buildup

Eggs are a frequent food in many people's diets, but as we age, it's important to keep an eye on our cholesterol levels and make sure we're not consuming too many of them. The American Heart Association advises those over 65 to attempt to consume less cholesterol and to limit their daily intake to no more than 200 mg.

One big egg includes about 186 mg of cholesterol, according to Medicalnewstoday. Because of this, those over 65 should limit their egg consumption to just one a day. You can eat up to two eggs every day if you are under 65 years old without going above the recommended daily intake of cholesterol.

Always consult your primary care physician first before changing your diet in any way. Although this should go without saying, it's important to always remember that not everyone is the same. Your doctor could advise you to reduce your intake if you fall under the category of people who are more likely to develop high cholesterol.

Eggs are a nutrient-dense food because they include high-quality protein, as well as a number of vitamins, minerals, and anti-free radical compounds. Although they have the potential to be a great source of nutrients for older people, it is crucial to consume them in moderation to avoid a buildup of cholesterol in the body.

Along with cutting back on the quantity of eggs you eat each week, there are other things you can do to help reduce your risk of developing high cholesterol. The maintenance of a healthy weight, frequent exercise, and eating a well-balanced diet composed of lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains are a few of these.

You also have the choice to eat eggs that have been prepared in a way that reduces the amount of cholesterol they contain. Use egg whites in place of entire eggs, for example, or try substituting other ingredients, such mashed bananas or unsweetened applesauce, for some of the eggs in your recipes. You can choose from a wide range of possibilities.

It is also a good idea to eat foods like oatmeal, almonds, and fatty fish that may help lower your cholesterol levels. Your general health may benefit from doing this. These meals may help reduce the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed by your body and increase the levels of "good cholesterol" (HDL) already in your body.
