Blagodzi told the court that the police hierarchy is still disturbed by the suspect's action and that such dastardly acts tarnish the service's reputation.

The Ghana Police Service has condemned the murder of a 27-year-old woman in the Ashanti Region's Adum-Kumasi.

Kofi Blagodzi, the director of legal and prosecution at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, made this statement when Ahmed Twumasi made his initial court appearance in Asokore Mampong on Tuesday (25 April).

Blagodzi told the court that the police hierarchy is still disturbed by the suspect's action and that such heinous acts tarnish the service's reputation.

Blagodzi told Judge Samuel Buabin Quansah, "Your honor, this is barbaric."

He stated, "Such an abhorrent crime committed by an active inspector undermines the Ghana Police Service's transformational agenda. A police inspector, who should know better, is the only individual who would say such a thing.

"As I've already indicated [to this court], the police are taking this matter very seriously, and I'd like to assure the family that justice will be served," she said.

Provisionally, Twumasi has been accused with murder. According to reports, he shot his 27-year-old girlfriend Victoria Dapaah around 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 20.

According to court documents, the deceased suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and torso. Her corpse has been transported to the morgue.

On Tuesday, 30 May, the perpetrator, who has been remanded, will reappear before the court.

Family members of Dapaah packed the courtroom to observe the proceedings. They had threatened to apprehend the suspect, who was subsequently escorted away by numerous security personnel assigned to the day's session.
