In an interview with Accra-based Radio station Hitz FM, Michel explained his comments making reference to the biblical Job.

"I don't believe in you don't know what will happen tomorrow, God gives and God takes, that is a lie," he said.

"It was Job that made us believe that statement, that God gives and God has taken. Job said that in anguish, it was Job's words. Now we've made it a doctrine, it's false, God doesn't give and God does not take," he added.

"Oh God gave Atsu and God has taken Atsu, it is a lie. Atsu was not supposed to die. He died prematurely. No, God did not take Atsu."

Atsu was found dead 12 days after being trapped under rubble following the devastating earthquake in Turkey.

His body has since been transported to Ghana for his burial.

Atsu sadly died after being trapped under rubble for 12 days, following the devastating disaster which claimed the lives of over 40,000 people in Turkey and Syria.
