Sammy Gyamfi writes exposing Bawumia's dubious claim that he has created 2,2 million employment.

While we wait for our NPP friends to conjure another response, may we now zoom in and investigate Bawumia's claim that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has created employment at the Health Ministry since 2017?

In Part 1 of this exposé, I addressed the absurd contradictions between the figures provided by Vice President Alhaji Bawumia (over 2.2 million jobs) and Minister for Employment and Labor Relations Ignatius Baffour Awuah (over 5.3 million jobs) in relation to the number of jobs they claim the Akufo-Addo/NPP government has created.

I am still waiting for our NPP allies to explain why a government would claim to have created varying and contradictory numbers of employment depending on who is speaking.

In Part 2 of this exposé, I zeroed in on specific figures published by Vice President Bawumia regarding employment created by the Akufo-Addo/NPP government at the Education Ministry since 2017. In that article, using Appendix 7 of the government's 2017 and 2023 budget statements, I demonstrated that only 31,433 additional staff have been hired by the Education Ministry since 2016, NOT 136,053 as stated by the Vice President.

Until now, the loudmouths who boasted everywhere that Bawumia spoke the truth and even taunted me to question the specific figures the vice president provided have suddenly gone silent. Since last night, they have been hiding in their rat burrows, unable to provide any response to the facts I presented. On the basis of their claim that there are two categories of public sector workers and the fact that Bawumia's 2.2 million positions relate to both categories, including agencies whose employees are not paid by the CAGD, I honestly believed they would have refuted the facts I presented by now.

While we wait for our NPP allies to conjure up another response, let's zoom in on Bawumia's claim that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has created jobs in the Health Ministry since 2017:

1. At No.14 of Bawumia's data sheet on employment created by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government (see attached sheets), the Vice President claims that this administration has created a total of 106,106 jobs in the Health Ministry.

2. It is instructive to observe that, in contrast to other sectors, the Vice President did not specify which Health Ministry agencies are responsible for creating the aforementioned 106,106 jobs. (As evidence, see the appended data sheet that Bawumia posted to his Twitter account). Clearly, this assumes that the 106,106 employees referred to by the Vice President are employees of the Ministry of Health and no others. Consequently, we will continue with this analysis based on this comprehension.

3. It is important to note that all employees of the Ministry of Health are paid by the Finance Minister through the CAGD, and should therefore be included in Appendix 7 of the Ministry of Finance's report on the Staff Strength of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The government's own budget statements entirely contradict Bawumia's claim that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has created 106,106 jobs in the Health Ministry since 2017:

According to Appendix 7 of the 2017 budget statement presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Ministry of Health employed 103,699 people in 2017 when this government took office. (Please see the attached documents for evidence).

According to Appendix 7 of the 2023 budget statement presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Ministry of Health employed a total of 182,233 people as of this year, 2023. (Please see the attached documents for evidence).

When 2017 staff strength is subtracted from 2023 staff strength, the result is 78,534. According to data contained in the government's own budget statements, there have only been 78,534 additional staff members at the Ministry of Health since 2017, NOT 106,106 as alleged by Bawumia, the Chief Liar of the NPP.

The Budget Statement presented to and authorized by the legislature is the most authoritative source of information on sectoral performance and national administration. Can the credulous NPP loudmouths who still believe Bawumia's questionable claim of 2,2 million jobs explain why this number contradicts the government's own budget statements?

Friends, it is evident from the preceding that Bawumia has once again lied.

Watch for Part Four!
