See who won the Kumawu NPP primary elections.

Ernest Yaw Anim received 195 votes to win the NPP's nomination for the next constituency by-election.

Nana Ama Serwaa, who finished as first runner up and received 181 votes, fiercely challenged him.

The goal of the Sunday, April 23, 2023 New Patriotic Party primary was to elect a replacement for the recently deceased MP Philip Basoah.

Following the constitutional provision's repeal, the Electoral Commission scheduled the by-election for May 23.

Despite the harsh complaints of locals and chiefs about the state of their roads, the NPP is guaranteed to win the election since the Ashanti region has served as their international bank.

A party leader once bragged about the region's extreme allegiance to the party by implying that a goat wearing NPP colors would easily win the region's elections.

Dr. Kwame Appiah Kubi, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, Nana Ama Serwaa, Ernest Yaw Anim, and Osei-Hwereh Bempah were the five candidates who competed.

Ernest Yaw Anim received 195 votes out of the 419 delegates that cast ballots, Nana Ama Serwaa 181, Dr. Appiah Kubi 10, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta 27, and Osei Bempah received 5 votes with 1 ballot being rejected.

The National Democratic Congress, the opposing party, has already selected a candidate without holding a primary despite having poor chances of winning the election.
