Since they are loaded with many benefits, it is perfectly fine to eat one whole egg including the yolk every day

New Delhi: Eggs are loaded with various health benefits, that range from weight loss to healthy skin, and even digestion. While eggs can be cooked in many different ways and are a versatile food – for breakfast or even dessert - can you have too many in a day?

According to experts, a single egg gives you 6 grams of protein, and they are loaded with vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B12, vitamin B9 or folate, and lutein. They are an inexpensive source of nutrients that help support various bodily functions.

Is it fine to eat too many eggs in a day?

Experts believe that since they are loaded with many benefits, it is perfectly fine to eat one whole egg including the yolk every day. However, if you suffer from a cardiovascular issue, like high cholesterol, you can avoid the yolk. Doctors also recommend limiting egg consumption to just two or three per week.

A single yolk is rich in saturated fat which raises the level of LDL cholesterol in your blood, and so it is better to avoid it.

Also, it is recommended to avoid any kind of fat or butter while cooking eggs. because those too have saturated fats in them and the best way to cook is to use olive oil or some kind of plant-based oil instead.

Doctors also suggest eating organic eggs as the yolk from those eggs has less cholesterol and higher levels of lutein. According to studies, consuming an egg a day significantly increases levels of lutein without elevating cholesterol. Experts also say cholesterol for people above 65 years is less affected by diet than someone younger, so they can have at least two whole eggs every day if they have normal cholesterol levels. 1

Why does protein matter?

Proteins are packed with amino acids, which are the building blocks used for all functions in the body. For your optimal well-being, it is important to get adequate amounts of protein daily.

It plays an important role in:

Building muscles

Weight loss

Blood sugar regulation

Thyroid function

Insulin sensitivity

Brain health and cognitive performance

Optimal digestion

Regulating reproductive hormone levels

Benefits of eating eggs

A few benefits of eating eggs include:

Maintain eyesight

Eggs contain large amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin – antioxidants that help reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration in the eyes. Eggs are also loaded with vitamin A, which is beneficial for eye health.

Packed with Omega-3

Omega-3 reduces triglycerides, which are a type of lipid fat in the blood.

Are filling

Eating eggs for breakfast helps keep you feeling fuller for longer — that’s generally attributed to the high protein content in eggs. Whether you have an omelet for breakfast or a hard-boiled egg as a snack, eggs can help you stay satisfied after or between meals.
