Show Ghanaians that you're the real patriots of the land - Fifi Kwetey charges NDC youth

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a challenge to the younger members of the party, instructing them to demonstrate ambition in order to maximise their own potential, but not at the expense of the prosperity of Ghanaians.

He urged the group to choose the well-being of the nation over their own self-serving interests.

When he was speaking to the youth leaders of the NDC at the Youth Wing Retreat in Accra on the theme: "Building the Ghana we want, the role of the youth," he made these remarks.

In his address to the gathering, the General Secretary encouraged the participants to model their lives after the exemplary ideals and principles that had been demonstrated by some of Ghana's most prominent leaders, whose impact on the course of the country's history had proven to be formative.

"Take inspiration from Kwame Nkrumah's love of nation and continent, Jerry Rawlings' courage of conviction and adaptability, Prof. Evans Atta Mills' Servant Leadership, and John Mahama's posterity defining leadership," he advised. "Take inspiration from Jerry Rawlings' courage of conviction and adaptability."

The General Secretary of the NDC also lamented the spread of what he referred to as a "NPP Mentality" among some young people. By this, he meant the propensity to devalue conviction and character in favour of placing more value on convenience and the accumulation of wealth without regard to values. He said this trend was creeping up on some young people.

After Ofori-Atta's departure from the Finance Ministry, a forensic inquiry is required there, according to Ablakwa.

"We in the NDC love the poor, but we do not hate the rich." "We do not hate the rich."

He went on to add that the party is of the opinion that no effort should be spared in the fight against poverty among the people of Ghana, especially citizens of the NDC.

He proceeded by saying, "Unlike other people who believe that wealth is just about how much you can acquire for the sake of itself, we believe that the reason for wealth is how to use it to bring genuine social justice and fellow feeling in the society." Ghana as a nation has set its sights on becoming a shining example of hope for other nations to follow. There is nothing inherently wrong with desiring to get wealthy, but there is something inherently wrong with pursuing that goal in a mindless manner at the expense of other people.

"We want a nation of prosperity, but we want that money to come from people who place importance on character. According to what he said, "that is what this party stood for in the past, and that is what this party must continue to stand for in the future."

The General Secretary of the party issued a rallying cry to the younger members of the party, urging them not to lose sight of the fact that their party is the political future of the nation.

He exhorted them to be good models for others because it is the only way that they will be able to go out and convince people that the NDC is Ghana's only hope.

"The pursuit of character will give you the stamina for longevity in political leadership," he said as he came to the conclusion.
