The Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin Yeboah, has instructed newly enrolled members of the Ghana Bar Association to take on more pro bono cases for the disadvantaged.
On Friday, May 5, 2023, at a mini ceremony to call 196 graduates of the Ghana School of Law to the bar, the outgoing Chief Justice urged youthful legal practitioners to do their utmost to advocate for the voiceless.
Even though the legal aid commission lacks adequate funding, he believes that this act will go a long way toward securing equality before the law and national development.
"communicate for those who are unable to communicate for themselves. Develop the practice of representing indigent clients pro bono. Young practitioners must do their utmost to assist the destitute and vulnerable members of society, he said.
He added, "above all else, be on the side of the truth."
Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah urged the new attorneys to always maintain a professional appearance.
In addition, they should "consider your temperament and demeanor. Respect your superiors in chambers, including justices, court officials, and law clerks.
Students who were unable to be called to the bar last year for various reasons were able to join their classmates at Friday's event.

Former SRC President of the School of Law, Victor Wonder Kutor, was awarded his certificate to practice despite a number of allegations and a petition requesting the Chief Justice to suspend his call to the bar.
He was among the 196 graduates who were authorized to commence their careers.
