The Empowerment of Women and Young People Is My Focus - Jim Morti

Jim Morti, the leading candidate in the Ketu South NDC parliamentary race, has stated that if he wins the upcoming NDC primary on May 13 and is subsequently elected as the area's Member of Parliament (MP) after the 2024 general election, he will prioritize the economic empowerment of women and youth of the area.

Jim Morti was speaking during a media interview at Aflao.

According to the businessman, who has a wide range of expertise in the mining, construction, transport, and logistics sectors, and is credited with several philanthropic and developmental projects in Ketu South and elsewhere, he has always been moved by the plight of the less fortunate in society, as evidenced by his commitment to assisting the vulnerable in any way possible to improve their standard of living.

In 2012, the candidate stood for the position in his home constituency, but lost narrowly to Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, former deputy minister of finance and general secretary of the National Democratic Congress.

In 2016, he ran as an independent candidate for the Ketu South parliamentary constituency, a decision he made in response to unsubstantiated allegations of fraud leveled against him by his own party members, who were said to have Mr. Kwetey's support.

These "smear campaigns" resulted in his suspension from the local party.

Jim Morti stated at the time that his love for the people of Ketu South compelled him to run for election as an independent candidate to demonstrate to the constituents that he meant business and had their best interests at heart, and that no amount of slander and intimidation would prevent him from working to improve the fortunes of his people.

He stated that the allegations, counter-allegations, and smear campaigns were all false and unsubstantiated, and that their sole purpose was to tarnish his reputation and prevent him from serving the constituents as their representative.

Jim Morti was, however, exonerated of all charges and reinstated to the party after an investigative committee found the allegations to be unfounded and without merit.

Jim Morti, affectionately nicknamed "The Game Changer" by his supporters and well-wishers, believes he is "the right man for the job."

In his personal capacity as a well-intentioned native of the Ketu South constituency, he has undertaken a number of development initiatives over the years. He believes he will be able to do even more when he is elected as the area's Member of Parliament (MP).

The following initiatives were personally executed by "The Game Changer" in the run-up to the 2016 general election, in which he ran for the Ketu South Constituency as an independent candidate.

• Classroom Building at Atsiaklorbor Elementary School

• Classroom Building for Aflao – Anoenu Elementary School

• Agbozume Adawukope Water Project

• Donation of 500 Plastic Chairs to Each of the Five Party Zones

• Iron Shed Donation for Motorcycle Riders at Kpoglu

• Donation of a Tractor to farmers in the district to help them plow their fields.

• Assistance for the apprenticeship training of 20 youth in tailoring and cosmetology.

The candidate for parliament disclosed that he was presently constructing a Fruit Processing Factory in Agbozume in an effort to assist youth in acquiring meaningful employment and enhancing their standard of living.

The construction of a clinic was also underway at Klikor Tekpekope, he said, and he hoped that, once completed, the initiative would supplement the Municipality's inadequate health care services.

The businessman and aspiring Member of Parliament has also designated the construction of a Coconut Processing Factory in the Municipality in 2024 in order to transform the municipally abundant coconut into a variety of finished products for local consumption and export.

Concerning Kente weaving, which is the main source of income for the residents of Some Traditional Area, the parliamentary candidate stated that he would work with the relevant authorities to ensure that the materials and logistics required to boost the trade are made available to the artisans at affordable and subsidized rates, allowing them to remain solvent and maximize their incomes.

Jim Morti, who is widely predicted by his supporters and a cross-section of delegates to win the Ketu South NDC primary on May 13, urged all NDC faithful, especially delegates, to disregard all those malicious allegations leveled against him in the past and vote massively for him on May 13, to enable him to bring the much-desired change the people of Ketu South had longed for over the years.

A vote for Jim Morti is a vote for change, he said.
