The Mahama administration was the worst in our nation's history - NPP's Owusu Bempah

Mr. Bempah issued a statement in response to John Mahama's campaign to be elected the party's flagbearer, claiming that he is attempting a revival by employing inferior tactics against the very office he seeks to reclaim.

From the day he was voted out of office in 2016 to his return as a presidential candidate in the run-up to the 2020 election and in recent times, Mr. Mahama has repeatedly demonstrated that he lacks the temperament, knowledge, stability, and honesty that Ghana requires in its presidents.

Whether through indifference or ignorance, he said, the NDC candidate for president in 2020 has violated fundamental commitments made by every president since the beginning of the fourth Republic.

"He has incited bigotry and political sentiments based on ethnicity in ways that cannot be eradicated by any means."

"Above all, Mahama has based his political campaign on appeals to bigotry and xenophobia, stoking resentment against our proclaimed democratic institutions and norms – from the Electoral Commission(EC), the Police, the Armed Forces, the Judiciary, our traditional rulers, and even moral and civil society.

Attempting to evaluate Mahama's policy positions is akin to firing at a moving target due to the fact that he has been on so many different sides of so many issues.

He is unqualified to serve as commander-in-chief.

"Ironically, Mahama is endeavoring to base his comeback campaign on his alleged accomplishments as former president.

But if you look beyond the rhetoric, you will discover that the Mahama administration was the worst in our nation's history.

In a rational universe, the NDC committed suicide when they nominated Mahama as their running mate.

In this context, I find the NDC's attempt to revive and legitimize a politically deceased Mahama to be utterly ridiculous."

He added that what Ghana needs is clarity, purpose, and competence, not a man who can only offer incompetence and rage.

"Every excellent disaster film has a scene in which the characters realize they are in mortal danger, that the threat they all dread is much closer than they imagined.

It is time for the people of Ghana to contemplate seriously that Mahama is unfit to serve as president again.
