When news of a lynching of a soldier broke, the nation was shocked. It was reported that a mob in Denkyira Obuasi, a mining community in the Central Region, was responsible for the death of the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama, who was suspected of being an armed bandit.

During the story's intermission, government officials, institutions, and individuals voiced their opinions on the situation and proposed solutions for dealing with the suspects.

According to developing reports, the brutally murdered soldier was stationed in the Denkyira Obuasi community for detachment duties.

Due to his valorous sacrifice in the line of duty, he received a posthumous promotion. Captain Mahama was promoted to Major Mahama upon his burial.

Six years later, a report written by Professor Frimpong-Boateng, former chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), verified that Major Mahama died while providing security for a C&J Aleska galamsey site.

The professor's report, titled "Report on the Work of the IMCIM and the Way Forward," was composed and given to the president in 2021, but it was leaked to the media.

What was stated in the report regarding the demise of Major Mahama:

Prior to his demise, Prof. Frimpong indicated in his report that Major Mahama was supervising a C&J Aleska-owned mining site in Denkyira Obuasi.

Apparently, Major Mahama was slain while "providing security for Donald Entsuah and his C&K Aleska."

According to his words, "Many Ghanaians will recall the C&J Aleska, a mining company co-owned by Donald Entsuah and a Canadian national, Simon Ayman, that wreaked havoc on the town of Denkyira Oduase, near Diaso.

During the previous NDC administration, a number of mining companies signed MOUs with the Ghana Army regulating the provision of security services to mining companies. The personnel stationed at C&J Aleska were once under the command of Captain Mahama. This fine soldier was slain while protecting Donald Entsuah and his C&K Aleska," he continued.
