Colon cancer is malignancy of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. This ubiquitous type of cancer, which affects both sexes equally, can be effectively treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

According to Healthline, incorporating certain foods into your diet may reduce your risk of developing colon cancer. The vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients contained in these foods are crucial for cancer patients undergoing treatment.

The following foods have been shown to reduce the incidence of colon cancer:

Dark green vegetables, such as kale, spinach, and collard greens, are rich in folate, fiber, and vitamins A, C, and K. They may also facilitate digestion in addition to being low in calories.

Cruciferous family plants, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, are rich in antioxidants and other immune-boosting substances.

In addition, they contain a great deal of fiber, which may aid digestion and prevent constipation.

Berries, such as strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, contain antioxidants and other nutrients that may reduce the risk of cancer. They are delicious and healthy because they are minimal in calories.

Salmon, tuna, and sardines, which are abundant in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, are excellent for reducing inflammation and boosting the immune system. Additional cancer protection is provided by the antioxidant selenium and the immune-boosting vitamins B and D found in these foods.

Almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds are examples of almonds and seeds that are rich in protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats. In addition, they contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that help the body combat cancer.

6. A healthy and balanced diet must include a broad variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. If you want to maintain your hydration levels, you should consume plenty of water and avoid sugary beverages and alcohol.

Before making any dietary adjustments, it is essential to consult with your physician or a registered dietitian, who can make recommendations based on your specific needs and medical history.
