Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, vice president of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, has accused the incoming president of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of attempting to reopen old grievances by excluding Igbos from his handover committee.

According to a report by Vanguard News, no Igbo person was included on the 14-member committee that Tinubu recently appointed for the swearing-in ceremony on May 29, 2023. Tuesday, in response to the development, Okene Ogene criticized Tinubu for the exclusion of Igbos from the committee.

Okene, who stated that Tinubu stated that he would continue Buhari's legacy, inquired as to which legacy of Buhari Tinubu intends to continue. He added, however, that the group has not acknowledged Tinubu's election as Nigeria's president.

He stated, "Igbophobia flows through his veins, and by excluding Igbo people from the handover committee, Tinubu is only attempting to reopen old grievances. He stated that he will continue Buhari's policies, and our query is what policies will he continue? Is it to perpetuate the marginalization of a specific ethnic group?"

"Ohanaeze has not even accepted his election, and he is acting on his own volition. We are aware that those who seek to partition Nigeria will fail."
