Gospel musician Yaw Sarpong was born in the Ghanaian town of Abeadze Dominase in the Central Region on September 21, 1950. Early in the 1970s, he started his musical career by singing with several bands. In the 1980s, he started his own band, the Asomafo (Messengers).
