Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has just concluded his Eastern region tour.
General Buhari, a member of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor's campaign team, has urged National Democratic Congress NDC delegates not to be intimidated for supporting Dr.Duffuor.
According to General Buhari, high-ranking members of the party who have declared their support for John Dramani Mahama were once members of Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), which opposed late Prof.Evans Atta Mills and Mahama.
He mentioned National Organizer, Joseph Yamin, Member of Parliament for Buem, Kofi Adams, and Eastern regional Chairman, Mark Oliver Kevor, among others, as members who played pivotal roles in FONKAR, but because the NDC is a democratic party, they were brought on board and given positions in government and the party.
Therefore, he reassured delegates not to be intimidated when supporting their beliefs.
General Buhari stated, "The NDC is one family, and whoever emerges victorious from the Presidential Primaries will have the full support of the party to defeat the NPP in 2024."
He assured that Dr. Duffuor is a peacemaker and unifier who will ensure party unity after the election.
Speaking about Dr.Kwabena Duffuor's credentials, Buhari stated that, as a successful businessman and a former finance minister who holds an enviable reputation as Ghana's best finance minister, Dr.Duffuor is a suitable candidate to become president in 2025 in order to fix the nation's ailing economy.
He stated this on Friday at Kade while addressing NDC delegates.
Dr.Duffuor is embarking on a 4-day campaign tour in the Eastern region prior to the NDC's Presidential Primaries on May 13,2023, in which he will compete alongside former President John Mahama and former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly,Kojo Bonsu.
The former governor of Ghana's central bank has assured NDC delegates that the party will be reborn to return power to the grassroots.
According to him, the grassroots have been neglected contrary to the party's founding principles.
The business magnate reaffirmed his intention to make the NDC a business-centered party that owns shares in significant companies, similar to the ANC party in South Africa, so that the party is not taken over by a small group of people who contribute financially to its operation.
Dr. Duffuor also stated that he will provide monthly salaries to party executives in an effort to increase their commitment to party work.
He stated that the heroes fund will be restored, a pension scheme will be established for the party, regional and constituency offices will be constructed, and vehicles and other resources will be provided to empower the grassroots.
Dr. Duffuor also indicated that women in the party must be economically empowered in order to ensure the survival of the party.
